It is being reported that Courts received around 500 extra probate applications per week in August, than in the period before coronavirus. Practitioners are reporting delays of 10-12 weeks in receiving Grants which can cause considerable delays in administering estates.
A particular worry is for those estates selling a house as part of a chain of property transactions where delay in getting the Grant may mean the whole chain falls apart.
