Guest Walker & Co welcome new trainee solicitor as current trainee achieves qualification success
York-based solicitors Guest Walker & Co have recently appointed Sonal Chopra, initially as a paralegal and then as a trainee solicitor, to work as part of the Commercial Property Team at their practice in York.
Sonal has recently completed her Legal Practice Course at York College of Law, following her Law degree from Leeds University. During her studies at York one of her main areas of interest was commercial law and her ambition is now to pursue this specialism during her training.
Sonal said: “Joining Guest Walker & Co is a great opportunity for me and I am really looking forward to working with the Commercial Property department. During my studies I have done work experience in both large and small firms and I think Guest Walker & Co will be the perfect place for me to develop my skills and make a contribution to the Team. York is also an amazing place to come and live and work in and I am greatly looking forward to getting to know the city.”
As Sonal is welcomed to the practice, Guest Walker & Co are bidding farewell to their former Trainee Solicitor, Oliver Riley. Having successfully qualified as a property solicitor, Oliver has moved on to work for a national firm of solicitors in Harrogate. Oliver will continue to retain close links in York, particularly through the Junior Lawyers Division, of which he is the National Representative.
Oliver commented: “I have had two happy years at Guest Walker & Co and, through the course of my training, I have been involved with some high-profile deals. This has provided me with an excellent platform to progress my career and I would like to thank everyone at the practice for their support and guidance.”
Nicola Goodman, Partner at Guest Walker & Co said: “Supporting trainee solicitors is an integral part of our business ethos. We are delighted to welcome Sonal to the Team and hope she will enjoy her training with us. We would like to thank Oliver for all his hard work and congratulate him on successfully achieving his qualification. He’s been a great asset to us and we wish him well in his future career.”
Guest Walker & Co was formed in 1981 by John Guest, with John Walker becoming a partner in 1984 and Nicola Goodman being made a partner in 2004. It has grown to become one of York’s leading legal firms. Based on Shambles in the heart of the City, the firm specialises in property law (both commercial and residential), business advice, licensing, family matters, wills and probate.
