Home Information Packs - HIPs

You may already be aware of the introduction of Home Information Packs (HIPs) in 2007.

We are preparing HIPs for our clients - and for Estate Agents - who will not be able to market most residential properties without a HIP having at least been ordered.

The HIP contains information about the property, its ownership and its energy-efficiency rating. It also contains Local Authority and Sewerage/Water Searches.

We are also happy to advise you on the HIP that you have obtained from elsewhere if you are thinking of buying a property and need help in interpreting the contents of the HIP.

Some properties won't initially require a HIP before they are marketed for sale - including properties that are tenanted, commercial properties (including those that are part-residential), a property that is being sold to a member of your family and the sale of portfolio properties.
